Use visits with the right intent

Start with traffic that could reasonably become an inquiry. A supplier opening your contact page, an existing customer checking hours and a new prospect researching a service are different visits. Your analytics may not separate them perfectly, so note that limitation.

The calculator compares two rates applied to the same number of visits. It does not inspect your website or promise the comparison rate is achievable.

A small change, with the same traffic

At 1,000 visits, moving from a 2% inquiry rate to 3% would mean 10 additional inquiries. That is the scenario, not a prediction. If those inquiries do not qualify, the higher total may not improve the business.

Do not treat every form click as an inquiry. Count a successful submission or a connected call using the tracking you actually have. A thank-you page refresh should not become a second lead.

Run the phone test 📱

Open the page on your phone using a normal mobile connection. Can you tell what the business does and where it works without hunting? Is the main action visible? Does the form explain errors without deleting your message?

Submit a real test inquiry with a clearly labeled test message. Check the customer confirmation and the notification received by the business. If there is a calendar, test timezone display and appointment availability separately.

Choose a fix you can evaluate

Write down the problem before changing the page. “People cannot find the service area” is more useful than “the site looks dated.” Make the relevant information easier to find, then compare customer questions and inquiry quality.

Other changes can affect the result: seasonality, ad targeting and traffic volume all matter. A before-and-after number is an observation, not proof that one design choice caused the change.

Common questions

What is a good conversion rate?

It depends on the traffic, service and action. Your own accurately measured baseline is the useful starting point.

Do I need a full rebuild?

Not necessarily. A clearer offer, a shorter form or a repaired notification can be a better first step.
